Norman Day Fireworks Postponed for Weather
A severe thunderstorm moved through Cleveland County and much of Oklahoma on Saturday causing fireworks shows across the county to be closed or postponed, according to KFOR news.
The Norman Day 4th of July celebrations take place in Reaves Park near campus every year, this would have been the 34th annual celebration, according to The Norman Transcript. Norman usually spends around $25,000 on fireworks.
"This is my first time working the fireworks show," said Teddy Wilson of the Norman Police Department, who was providing security for the show. "The last few years I missed it because of other obligations. Oh well, I guess you can't have fireworks in the rain."
Norman has rescheduled their fireworks celebration for tomorrow night at 9:30 p.m. weather permitting, said Officer Wilson.
